What Is Missing In Conventional Western Education -- benorwholisticblog.com --
It t has been a while since I made my last blog entry. Major obligations and challenges in my outer and inner worlds have demanded my time.
I now see my way clear to devoting regular time to sharing in this format and enjoying your feedback.
I have been on a path of personal development for decades. One of my main goals has been to reconnect with and strengthen my intuitive and feeling awarenesses. I started out in life with strong left-brain/ head/ thinking abilities and had to work diligently to reconnect with and learn to trust my right-brain/ heart/ inner gnowing abilities.
Much of my education and training has been a hindrance to learning to trust my heart. I live in a society that values and emphasizes thinking to such a degree that most of our educational focus is on exercising memory, linear logic and reasoning, from earliest years of the 3 R's, through drilling in memorizing factual knowledge, to the elimination of creative arts from the school curriculum because these are 'too expensive' and 'not essential.'
I studied psychology and learned that only what is measurable and statistically validated is to be accepted, trusted, believed…
I studied medicine and was taught that evidence based medicine has answers from research to prove that its treatments are worth while… and at the same time was warned that the pace of medical discovery is such that half of what I was taught to be fact would be disproven within ten years, but no one could predict which items these might be…
I studied psychiatry (at a time when this profession was entirely focused on psychotherapy) and was taught by many of my instructors that psychoanalysis was the most important approach and that any other approach lacked depth and would be riddled with unanalyzed, projective distortions…
While each of these trainings provided many invaluable insights and understandings of the human condition, none touched more than very briefly on what i consider today to be of enormous importance and value: self-healing, bioenergies, spiritual healing and personal spiritual awareness, which I find to be of enormous value to me personally and to those who come to me for help with pains of all sorts – physical and psychological - through WHEE.
I value your feedback and resonations with any of the above, and will respond personally or on these blog pages to any resonations you may have with what I am sharing.
Blessings
Dan Benor - WHEE MD
